Indian IT major, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is tapping into the need for virtual internships during lockdown. The company's strategic unit, TCS iON has launched Remote Internships for students.
The interested candidates can directly connect with the companies and mentors to provide a structured learning environment. The remote internships address the need of graduate students from engineering, science, and business streams. TCS believes that students can remotely work on projects even during the lockdown.
The structure of internship projects via TCS iON is compliant with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) guidelines. The platform allows companies to post internships and let students browse through the listed internships. The students can see what subject themes are trending and choose the relevant one. They will get credits depending upon the kind of projects chosen.
The internships offer a structured learning environment with access to industry mentors, industry curated learning material, projects, and videos or webinars. Interns can also interact and share ideas with peers and mentors through social credits. The platform includes a feature to conduct exit tests and integrate the viva score.
TCS iON's Global Head, Venguswamy Ramaswamy said, "We are excited to launch this product just in time for the summer internships and bring the industry and students together on a single digital platform. Through this product we hope to enable streamlined and uninterrupted learning for students on trending industry topics, ensuring that they earn their academic credits, even in the midst of a pandemic."
Within tech projects planned across topics such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), DevOps, and robotic process automation (RPA), there is an exposure to rending technologies related to industry mentors. TCS has posted more than 100 internships curated under a large number of domains for students to explore.
